SUMMARY: This role will lead and facilitate a freight brokerage environment for our company managed operation in Jacksonville, FL. As a Branch Manager, your primary focus is the development, and management of all branch strategy and operations, including business development, carrier and customer management, and growth strategies for the branch using our network of independent sales agents. This individual will have P&L responsibility and will develop operational and internal plans to drive achievement of financial goals and objectives and meet customer and carrier expectations; identify and access internal, external transportation demands, and forecasting requirements. This position will work in partnership with the leadership and management team as they support the overall productivity and cost-effectiveness of the branch, ensuring permanent business. This role will report to the VP of Business Development. This position is not remote and will be located in our Jacksonville, FL office with some travel required. The salary range for this position is $90-100k plus commission potential.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify, hire, train and develop all staff members to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Train and develop all staff members on phone solicitation for customers as well as carriers.
  • Create and manage an individual portfolio of accounts through constant communication with customers.
  • Negotiate rate structures, including consolidation lanes, capacity, and customer programs.
  • Manage transportation providers to ensure customer service requirements are met.
  • Conduct daily/weekly/monthly team meetings and provide feedback to staff to ensure maximum productivity to include monthly reviews.
  • Monitor staff performance and address issues to positively impact results and profitability.
  • Prepare annual budget and business plans.
  • Manage and review actionable analysis of financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, etc.) in order to assist in managing branch operations and determine efficient improvements.
  • Resolve issues about freight and deliveries between the transportation provider, customers and Freight Consultants.
  • Make customer service the top priority by providing customers with the highest level of service possible, identify new and/or reoccurring issues/problems and implement solutions.
  • Communicate the market conditions about supply and demand of capacity and lane rates.
  • Solicit customers daily.
  • Build relationships with new and existing customers, build a steady flow of business, hand off to Account Management Teams
  • Help and support AM Teams build their book of business and lend advice when necessary.
  • Assist with recruiting efforts to bring new IBO’s into the program.
  • Administrative functions to include mail, ordering supplies, overseeing general care and maintenance of office space.
  • Establish and maintain the company culture in the branch office
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • 5-10 years of transportation brokerage experience.
  • 3-5 years management experience in a brokerage environment.
  • Experience/Success completing freight RFP’s
  • High school diploma/GED required.

  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Microsoft Office (Particularly Excel and Power Point)
